| R/A |
Abbreviation indicating the tournament has both Rebuys and Addon/s. |
Definitions:
| Buy-in |
The amount paid to enter the tournament which is added to the total prize pool. |
| Entry Fee |
The amount paid to enter the tournament which is retained by the house for hosting the game. |
| Freeroll |
A tournament that does not attract a buy-in or entry fee. It is free to play but has a real money prize pool. |
| Play Money |
A tournament that is played for fun. No real money is used to buy in or as a prize. |
| Stakes |
Describes the total cost of entering a tournament, the buy-in and entry fee, (eg. $10 + $1) |
| Levels |
Describes the time for each level in the tournament before the blinds are increased. May also be number of hands before level increase. |
| Registration |
The time frame in which entries are accepted before a tournament begins. Also describes the act of 'registering' for a tournament. You are 'Registered' once you have paid your buy-in and entry fee. You may deregister if the option is available. |
| Players |
eg. 34/100, where 34 indicates the number of players currently registered out of a possible maximum of 100. |
| Password |
Indicated as a lock symbol next to the tournament listing. This tournament requires a password for entry. |
| Coupon |
A voucher/coupon used instead of cash as the buy-in and entry fee. These may be won, purchased or awarded via special means. |
| Requirements |
A term used to indicate that some other action must be accomplished before entry will be granted. |
| Comp Points |
The number of comp points awarded for playing the tournament. |
Tournament Types:
| Scheduled |
A tournament that has a set start time and date. |
| Sit'n'Go / SnG |
A tournament with no scheduled start time. The tournament commences when the required number of players have paid the buy-in. |
| Satellite |
A scheduled or Sit'n'Go tournament that offers a prize pool that consists of entry coupons for a bigger tournament / event. This allows smaller stake players to "buy-in" to big stake tournaments using a coupon as their buy-in/entry fee. |
| Private / League |
A tournament or game that is hosted / organized by the house on behalf of an external entity. Usually has a password or coupon requirement for entry. |
Tournament Features:
| Rebuys |
The tournament will allow players to re-buy if they have lost all of their chips. Generally allowed until the first break. A rebuy is the cost of the Buy-in. Tournament is marked as w/Rebuys. |
| Addons |
The tournament will allow players to purchase additional chips. Generally at the beginning of the first break. An add-on is the cost of the Buy-in. Tournament is marked as w/Addon. |
| Freezeout |
A freezeout is a tournament with no rebuys, once a player loses all of his/her chips, they are out of the tournament. |
| Short Handed |
Indicates that the tournament will run with 6 or less players per table, may also be noted as "6 max". |
| Bounty |
A fixed amount or percentage of the prize pool offered for knocking a particular player out of the tournament. |
| Turbo |
A tournament that has a fast blind structure. Generally levels that are around 3 to 7 minutes. |
Prize Pools:
| Guaranteed |
Indicates the minimum prize pool. Even when the buy-ins do not equal or exceed this amount, the prize pool will remain this amount as a minimum. |
| Freeroll |
A tournament that does not attract a buy-in or entry fee but has a real money prize pool. |
| Added |
An amount in addition to the total of all buy-ins, added as extra an prize by the house. (eg. $100 Added) |
